International Exhibitions of Photography
What is an “International Exhibition of Photography”? An International Exhibition of Photography (also known as “International Salon” previously) is an open photography competition, which is open to anyone in the world, both professional and amateur photographers. Each International Exhibition is typically sponsored by a camera club, a camera club council, a photographic organization, a private or a public organization (e.g. a State Fair) in the world. The total number of the International Exhibitions in the world varies by sections. The large Color prints, large Monochrome prints and the Projected Images sections have the most numbers.

Why enter International Exhibitions? Photography, like many other activities, even it can be learned or improved by reading books and/or instruction. But competition is one of the biggest vehicles to help you to advance and improve your skill. International Exhibitions provide you with another opportunity to improve and more importantly, to measure your skill against the top photographers from the world. Then there is the satisfaction, which comes from world public recognition of one's work. It is not the same as exhibiting your work in a gallery. Anyone can exhibit and sell his photographs in a gallery but there is little measure of how good the work is. Someone like your picture and may buy it. The level of satisfaction in exhibiting at an International Exhibition means much more since each International exhibition exhibits the best work taken from hundreds or thousands of entries from the world photographers after they were judged by a panel of top photographers and experts.

How does it different from other competitions? International Exhibition has the highest level of competition. Using sport competition as an analogy, the level of competition in the local camera club monthly competition likes a high school sport meet; the County Fair photo competition likes a State championship sport meet; and a newspaper or magazine photo competition likes a National Championship sport meet; but the International Salon is like an Olympic. The level of International Exhibition competition is the highest because you compete against many top photographers from each part of the world. The reason that many compete in an International Exhibition is the same reason why every athlete in the world wants to participate in Olympic. The more you compete against the best in the world, the more you learn. In addition, International Exhibition participants receive a catalog of accepted entries after it is finished. Reproductions in most of International Exhibition catalogs have dazzling examples of the best work around the world and that provides a good opportunity to learn and improve your skills. Acceptances in the PSA recognized International Exhibitions can be sued for applying PSA qualify for PSA Star Ratings. In addition, the most successful ones are recognized in the annual “Who's Who in Photography”.

Summary: Besides measuring your skill against the top photographers in the world, participating in the International Salons has a lot of fun. This is one of the most popular, rewarding, and fun activities for photographers around the world. The excitement is indescribable when you receive the report card, especially when you win a top award. Don’t be intimidated by the high competitive level in the International Salons, many of our Club members’ work will do well in international Salons. Also, if you have an opportunity to attend a Salon exhibition, do so. This is the best way to find out what is being accepted. And you'll see many outstanding images,
